Unfortunately I left my digital camera at home so I’ll have to wait until Amy Tisinger can get me some photos, but we had a nice representation at the New Market Fourth of July Parade at 4 p.m.
RWSC President Maud Shell, her three girls, Amy Tisinger, Delegate Todd Gilbert, Senator Mark Obenshain and Congressman Bob Goodlatte joined us as we walked downtown New Market. Despite a massive downpour just about an hour before, there was a pretty good showing amongst the locals. It was great to see the great pride of this typical American community.
Parades are always a great chance to get some visibility, but its unfortunate that two communities had to cancel their parades this year. However, there’s still plenty of work to do elsewhere; make sure to mark this Wednesday for our Phone Bank at United County Real Estate in Mount Jackson at 6 p.m. If you can’t make it out, be sure to contact me at (540) 436-3530 to get some lists that you can work on from home.
The White House has a full transcript of President Bush’s speech, but The New Dominion goes a step further and provides audio of the speech. It appears that the President had to suffer quite a few interruptions, but if they felt absolutely compelled to disrupt an official court proceeding, it may as well have been in the shadow of Mr. Jefferson.
Meanwhile, NBC 29 sat down with a gentleman who I had the great pleasure of studying under, Larry Sabato, to get his thoughts on the upcoming election, as well as a preview of the upcoming debate between Gilmore and Warner.
Two stories you should know about:
-Blog with No Name has a review of last night’s blogger conference call with Bob Goodlatte. The post is particularly interesting for its analysis of the current situation in Iraq.
-Rick Sincere “live-blogged” the president’s speech at Monticello. It seems that protesters just couldn’t let the new citizens have their day.
It’s a light news day, so I leave you with SWAC Girl’s reminder of why we all have the day off.
Happy Independence Day!
